Jed Young, STC Club President's Message

Picture1.png

Dear members and friends of STC:

It’s an honor to be in this position and I am looking forward to serving you as the STC President for the upcoming term. David "Fish" Mihuta did an outstanding job leading the club into new endeavors over the past two years so let’s keep the momentum moving forward. It’s so much fun working together as a team and organizing events; such as: the Chassis Expos, Oyster Roasts, Golf Outings, Lunch and Learns, Ronald McDonald House charity cookouts and more. Your continued support and attendance to the STC social/networking events is how the club raises funds for the Georgia Southern Logistics students. This year (2012) STC was able to give $10,000.00 in scholarship monies to five (5) deserving students. Please invite a friend or coworker to join the excitement this year.

A big" Thank You" goes out to my employer, Savannah Warehouse Services, LLC, the STC BoardMembers, DrKarl Manrodt and the LIT students at GSU, and everyone who supports Savannah Traffic Club. It takes each and every one of you to make this club successful. The STC will be supporting the other groups in town such as Maritime Afterhours, Independent Freight Forwarders & Customs Brokers Association of Savannah, Propeller Club, and Maritime Association.

Hope to see you all Wednesday night. April 4, 2012 at Tubby’s in Thunderbolt at 5:15pm to dunk the Logistics Sharks of Savannah. Keep the date, May, 4thfor the STC Annual Golf Tournament at Crosswinds Golf Club. It’s going to be a sell- out tournament this year; please log onto www.savannahtrafficclub.organd print your form to enter a team now and fax to Billy Robinson or Robert Dowd at Port City Logistics. You can also print a membership application and view upcoming events. Don’t forget to LIKE the Savannah Traffic Club on our Face book page. Pictures are posted from each event along with great comments.

This year the club is going to focus on being healthy. The annual Savannah Bridge Run held in December would be a great opportunity for the club to get together and complete a 5K / 10K run or walk. Team shirts would be made and planned training days would be scheduled for everyone to meet at local parks to get some miles in together and enjoy the beautiful Savannah Scenery and fresh air. Healthy food would be served at the meetings and events. Just something to think about and, of course, this would be brought up at a board meeting to vote on. If you have ideas for the club, just ask and the board will make the final decision. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Something interesting you may not know about the President is that I’m an advocate for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. When not selling 3rdparty logistics for SWS or planning events for the STC, I’m training and competing in Marathons and Triathlons with Team in Training. Sponsors help me raise money to fund cancer research and hope to find cure for all blood cancers. You can sponsor your president in an Olympic distance triathlon & marathon while following the progress by clicking this link below:
