STC President's Message for July 2012 from Jed Young.

Dear Members and friends of STC:

Hope you’re all having a great summer so far as it seems to be getting warmer every day. Stay hydrated if working or playing outdoors. Hey, Tybee Island is always a great way to cool down.

SHOUT OUTgoes to Port City Logistics for doing most of the, behind the scenes work, on our last golf outing. Billy Robinson and Robert Dowd did an outstanding job staying organized and lining up the teams. The club has almost raised enough money to next year’s scholarship students.

I would like to welcome the newest STC board member, Susan Lyles with Home Depot, who was recently voted in. She joins BradYoung with ESTES, Rob Rowewith BH Transfer, Susan Salemwith TXN Intermodal, and Robert Prescottwith Georgia Ports Authority; all whom joined our STC Board on April 1st. Congratulations to all of you, and it’s a pleasure working next to such fine people. We are Logistics!!

The STC board has been meeting each month to discuss new plans for the club. The educational outreach MLET group has met a second time with the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System to further develop the cooperation between education and industry. Furthermore, our next lunch and learn may consist of speakers from the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce to hit on hot topics. Will keep you posted on that as we firm up the dates. We’re also reaching out to other local industry clubs and trying to put together a Ronald McDonald house cook-off for charity. If you would like to enter a cooking team, let me know. Also, if you’re interested in attending a board meeting, feel free to contact me direct. We meet on the second Tuesday of the month at noon. You can email me suggestions for new events. Keep updated by visiting the STC at www.savannahtrafficclub.orgor our facebook page.

That doesn't even include all of the networking events and golf tournament. Don't wait as space is limited at the hotel and they need reservations in asap to be able to confirm your spot!

BTW, don’t forget to share the roads with runners and cyclist when traveling around town. There are lots of races coming up and the athletes will be training in our streets. You may have already passed me on the road, training and raising funds to help accelerate finding a cure for cancer. I’m hooked on getting healthy for a great cause. Thanks to my sponsors.
